Compose, play and share West African drum rhythms on your iPhone and iPad

Djembe Notes is a West African drum rhythm editor, player and library that helps you practice drumming.
It includes a library of 8 traditional rhythms presented in simple notation.

Djembe notes lets you:
• Easily add new rhythms to your rhythm library
• Include parts for djembe, kenkeni, sangban, dununba and three different bells
• Play a rhythm ensemble of parts or a part at a time
• Practice at a comfortable tempo
• Keep in time with the visual metronome
• View a clean musical score by hiding controls
• Share rhythm notation as PDF files
• Share playable rhythm files

Master Drummer Mamady Keïta introduced this notation in his book
“A Life for the Djembe - Traditional Rhythms of the Malinke” and used it in his iBook “Nankama”.
It represents the West African drum rhythms in an intuitive and easily editable form.

Love the idea, needs more
Needs dununs! Without the context of the bass drums, the djembe parts are of very little value. Please add dununs. Id be happy to share single hit sounds with the developer for free use if you can add dununs to the app. I recorded bells, open strokes, and press strokes for all three dununs and would happily allow you to use them for free if you can add dunun functionality. Search "Tyler djembe Seattle" and youll find me easily enough.
Great for beginners
This is the best djembe rhythm app I’ve found. It’s not a pretend djembe drum, but a serious practice tool for learning new rhythms, practicing with a virtual ensemble, or composing your own rhythms.
App crashes after update
This is a great app. Worked fin with OS 9...but then I updated the app to the recent version. Now it crashes when you try to make a new song...tried the same in another phone. Same results. Please fix. :) ---update--- After I open an existing rhythm and edited then all worked as well. Thanks for a useful app!
Disappointed
This could be a great app if worked. There are a number bugs that need fixing both on the iPhone and iPad. And repairs are very slow come. I think the thing that annoys me the most is when send a description of the problem and they dont have the courtesy to give you a reply. I think this app has been abandoned so save your money.
